Students participated in a gallery tour of the sixth
grade characterization posters and spent time providing
critical analysis of peer reading projects. What Mrs. Boulet loved about this assignment
was how hard students worked to give each other specific feedback about
strengths and weaknesses in their projects, and they used as much academic
language as they could in explaining their evaluation of the content of the
projects. Students had to compare a common theme
across two texts (a drama and a poem), articulate and support their point with appropriate illustrations (text
evidence) from each selection, and included explanations for how the
illustrations they chose supported the main point.
