Coach Brown’s Blog
in 6th Grade Writing
We have had a most excellent start to our year in 6th Grade Writing! Of course, learning all the different parts to writing! To begin with, we explored introductions with exploring leads and controlling ideas. Next, when it comes to body paragraphs, there really needs to be some “juicy” detail! To learn more on sensory detail, we decided to explore the senses by touching the unknown in a box, tasting beanboozled jelly beans, or sour, or sweet, or spicy!
We smelled the unknown in another box, heard the unknown wild sounds of a didgeridoo, and looked at a magnificent neon tree! Students wrote down their details from exploring each of the senses which then helped them to revise their rough drafts for better detail. With editing, we explored the technology side of things and identified the mistakes we discovered in a few stories! This then went onto us editing our wonderful rough drafts! We will be finishing up our papers in the computer lab this week.
